The Purest Heart I Know

There exists this girl. You'd never guess that she wasn't actually a figment of your imagination if she didn't interact with other people. Everywhere she goes, she brings light. In her golden hair, in her unwavering smile. Sometimes you have to stop and think to yourself

Is this an angel?

We didn't talk much. Just sat as a part of the group, her with her dark, stylish shades, me with my fading blue hair and thin, over worn sweater. Perhaps the only conversation shared was a discussion on Sufjan Stevens. I should've known then who i was dealing with - only the most wonderful people can whole heartedly love Sufjan the way she does. Or love anything in such a way. So purely.

Suddenly, i find myself in a certain Nissan Altima, driving along I-5, and then Highway 101 with this girl. And it's like we'd always been friends. Like we'd already shared our darkest secrets with each other, and come through to the other side, in full acceptance and admiration (at least on my behalf) on who the other was. Aside from sleeping and showering, we were in near constant company for bordering on 100 hours. The best 100 hours of my life, without a doubt.

You would think that a trip like this would bring out the annoying habits and mannerisms of people you once thought were free of them. But this girl remained as untainted as a newborn child. Always polite, always considerate. She'd apologize for accidentally interrupting, but wouldn't say a thing when someone else interjected. You must think "She has to be annoyed at such an action, but she just hides it well." But I don't think that to be true. I think terrible injustice is the only thing that can truly upset her. And such a trivial thing, well - it is what it is, and what is there to be upset about?

You cannot know pure until you have met the girl who decides to take a nap on a rock by the ocean. You cannot know love until you sit with this girl in a Borders, reading Postsecret and a Sufjan interview while Celtic music softly plays over the speakers. You cannot laugh truly until you have been with the girl who wrote ALTIMA on a piece of notebook paper as if it came from a horror film, and held it against the car window to show the passing nissan.

By the way, I really hope you don't still feel guilty about me getting you coffee and coving your Pho. It's the least I could do for a friend such as you.

I love you! :)

Something Brief

Hello!

Well i'm back for Thanksgiving! Although I have lots of work to do still, i'm definitely going to be having some fun. And i hope you all do too!

The main reason of this post is an attempt to cheer someone up in light of a recent event! I wrote...something. I'm not really sure what you'd call it. Poem maybe? Anyway, I wrote it when i was driving back to Cwu last weekend and it was snowing pretty heavy in the pass. It's nothing special really. But I'll post it anyway, also since I've felt I should post something recently. Here it is:

The red lights flash on a pristine world
Glitter flows past my headlights

The darkness reaches tall and glorious
Allowing the mind to wander

The night makes an innocent mind
Where love holds true through all

The daylight will wake us from our sleep
Our love will hold true through all

That Bittersweet Feeling

Do you know that feeling you get when you just finish a book that you love? That desire for the story to continue and the ability to follow those characters for as long as you can?

It's odd but i have the reverse of this feeling.

I've picked up a book, so to speak, and i find myself wanting to go back into the past, to be able to read all of the experiences of the character's history.

I feel like the best relationships, friends or otherwise, have this to some level or another. The desire to have had this wonderful person in your life even longer.

It's sort of greedy, when you think about it... But I think it's an element of one of the most pure things in the world.

When There's Nothing Left to Burn, You Have to Set Yourself on Fire

Warning: This post is going to be very scatterbrained.

I've been in a creative mood lately, as far as writing goes. The one thing that always bugs me though is that everything I write, especially poetry-type pieces, turn out really dark. Almost disgustingly so... I need to work on that

Homecoming is soon, and i'm super excited to dance! :D

Piper recently wrote an amazing little post. I really wish I had her skill at writing, the words just flow together into this beautiful sentences and ideas. The first time I read it, to be honest, i got a little teary eyed (I rarely use this phrase. I dislike it, especially when used untruthfully orrrr... This is turning into a rant. haha. I'm also being hyper-critical. moving on).

Demi also wrote a wonderful little bit. Those two are like the dynamic duo, I can certainly see why they're best friends.

Tyler needs to blog more :P haha

First concert was today. It went pretty well! I love being in a huge orchestra playing great pieces, there's something special about it. We received our Costume Concert music today too, which we perform next tuesday. Yet again, A Night on Bald Mountain returns

There's a very useful site out there for checking answers to science or math things, or just looking up info! Wolframalpha.com. It's sooo helpful

I can never be asleep by the time I want to. Today, I said I'd be asleep by 1030. It's 11:45 now haha. I need to work on that

This post is going to stop now. Sorry for such randomness, i promise more consistency in the future. Until then!

Blank pages

Egg Sandwiches. That's the smell that currently dominates the room. It's becoming a frequent occurrence for my roommate to eat them, sometimes while watching the newest episode of the Jersey Shore.

My other roommate went to bed last night after 5am. He stayed up playing a game called Civilization 5 I think.... He didn't wake up until an hour or two ago.

Dorm life is interesting.

You find ways to get along with people that you would never be friends with in other situations. You also discover a large amount of people have some similar interests and can be great friends, despite large differences.

There's been quite a lot of drama this weekend around CWU. The most well known being the party in Roslyn that made the news on CNN. The university isn't telling us exactly what happened, but what i've picked up from news sources (although they've been claimed to have some false information) is that about 12 students were hospitalized and one was in critical condition as a result of bad drugs, specifically Roofies, that had not only been slipped into the alcohol, but the water as well. There are other claims of what was discovered by the police when they arrived, but I don't know how many of those to trust. The dorms across campus had meetings to warn everyone and relay the university's statements on the matter, although i'm sure some people won't listen. On another note, i'm not really sure why such large news stations as CNN decided to take notice. Sure, it's a big deal with drugs and underage drinking, but i've heard about plenty of them on other campuses that got out of hand. I guess they just got caught

Also this weekend, there was a carload of friends of mine who were going to a rave up in Seattle. On the way back to Central, at around 3:30 or 4am, their car hydroplaned on the freeway and crashed into a guardrail. Everyone in the car is fine now, only the one in the passenger seat was injured enough to need a blood transfusion and stitches. It was no fault of the driver's at all really. I guess it's just a warning to be careful driving over and back.

I'm starting to worry about the driving through the passes in a few weeks, as I'm not sure how bad they'll be this year. I hear Ellensburg is supposed to get more precipitation than they've had in a long while, and i'm not really sure how well equipped my car is to drive in snowy conditions. Let's just hope it holds off for another month or so!

I'm back next weekend for a few days! Mainly to pick up my tux for the concert on Sunday (yeah, they gave us less than three weeks), although there may be some other forces drawing me back... haha

I wish the best to those who care enough to read this! You're all brilliant
